Scuba Shack instructors and divemasters are the most experienced and qualified in the world. Safety and adventure is the hallmark of our dive team. Whether you are a first time diver or an experienced deep water diver, you will appreciate the skill and knowledge that the Scuba Shack staff bring to the Maui underwater experience.

Owner and Captain, Charley Neal

Owner and Captain, Charley Neal, with over thirty years experience diving and exploring Hawaii, he knows every watery hideout and the mysterious creatures dwelling therein. Charley is an experienced 100 Ton USCG Captain, has dived throughout the world, and will treat you to a personalized diving experience you’ll never forget. An avid photographer, videographer, down hill skier, and now, pilot, he may even take you flying on one of the days you are not diving on Maui. Charley has fabulous accommodations available for you on Maui as well. In the eight years he has owned Scuba Shack, he has taken the business from a bankrupt hole in the water to the Highest Rated Dive Operation EVER on Maui. Come see what it takes to be # 1!

Like so many divers, you’ll quickly become not only repeat customers, you’ll have a whole new set of friends in paradise. First Class fun at affordable prices, that’s Scuba Shack.

“Diving with Scuba Shack is like having friends on Maui that own a boat!”

Mahalo,
Charley Neal

Toby Tobin

Toby Tobin is Scuba Shack’s Air Quality Specialist. He has been with Scuba Shack for 12 years. Toby is a Certified Tank Inspector and a certified Gas Blender for Nitrox / Oxygen Enriched Air. Toby is also a PADI Divemaster and loves to show Scuba Shack clients the best night diving on Maui! Toby is THE person to show you night diving on Maui.

Greg Walter

Greg Walter began his diving career in 1968 while in the military in Okinawa. He moved to Seattle to become an engineer with Boeing and spent the past 30 years in the frigid waters of Puget Sound and Canada where he received his PADI Instructor certification. After retiring from Boeing, Greg moved to Maui several years ago and has enjoyed teaching introductory divers and certification classes.

Brooke Olson

Brooke was so impressed by the Scuba Shack dive boat on a recent trip to Maui that she’s dedicated all her free time at work to help Charley with his website. It was the least she could do, after Charley & his staff showed her such a good time.

Scott Moore

Scott Moore originally developer scubashack.com. Scott has been programming for the web and working in high tech for many years. In fact, Scott helped invent the internet with Al Gore (you didn’t think Al thought that up on his own did you?). During the day Scott works at Microsoft. He used to work on high-end datacenter servers, but as of late is involved in building Smart Phones, Pocket PCs, and other secret projects. In his spare time Scott scuba dives as much as possible, and has been diving all over the world (Maui, Kuai, Oahu, Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Cozumel Mexico, Australia, Palau…)

Jim Dingman

Jim Dingman spent his childhood in New Jersey dreaming of 12 month summers. After moving to Hawaii in 2005, it didn’t take him long to fall in love with scuba diving. Three years later, Jim is one of Maui’s top instructors. Whether you simply want your open water certification, or if you want to take your diving to a professional level, he’s your man. Jim is a PADI trained Master Scuba Diver Trainer, certified to teach 16 specialties. With an eye for turtles, octopuses, eels, tropical nudibranch, and any kind of fish you could imagine, he ALWAYS leads an exciting dive. Jim is also making a name for himself as an excellent underwater photographer. Armed with his DIR style of diving; backplate and long hose, trademark diving hood, geek-shorts, and Canon G9, Jim is ready to take you on the dive of your life… in paradise!
